Kiss me dirty, 2012...

So, a bunch of us girls decided many moons ago to do a mud run. The date finally arrived this weekend. After much preparation of transforming ourselves into "girls from the hood" we were ready. The night before the race we pooled together our hoodlum gear (necklaces, fake tattoo's, dark makeup, etc.) and got to work. It was pretty hilarious to see some of these ladies looking so "tough."

The race itself was muddy and delightful. One of the obstacles was a down hill slip n slide. The water tank was not working so we all decided to "roll" down instead. Um, not a good idea. I guess we aren't 16 anymore. A few girls got sick and puking was on the horizon. Luckily, they gained control and no more rolling took place.

We crawled through mud and took full advantage of it. We were determined not to walk away covered in mud. Main objective? Get as muddy as possible. Mission accomplished. I even had mud in my eyes. Yuck.

After the race, we went back to our room and showered like crazy. I showered for 30 minutes, and when I dried off? Dirt was there on the towel. Are you kidding me?? Oh, well. A few showers later, I was finally clean again.

Tammy and I stayed an extra night for some extra girl/shopping time. Every girl needs a vacation now and then, and I'm so thankful to have her as my vacation/goodwill/deseret industries buddy.(Don't ask.) We know how to rock a vacation. We also met up with our friend Alexis, and had dinner and laughs.

It was a great weekend full of hot muddy mama's...and lots of fun and laughter.

Until next time...

Barbecuing my child...

That's not child abuse, right? I found Scarlett in our pellet stove that is currently not in working order. Before we get it fixed I may have to do some lecturing on staying away from the stove. Especially in it.

Prayers...

This has been a stressful week. Halee started seminary (an early morning scripture class.) Connor is constantly, (or so it seems) at football practice. I am trying to manage our advertising and finances of our business. This doesn't include the incessant homework, making lunches, giving baths, doing laundry....etc. I mean, seriously, the list goes on and on. Getting my kids to bed on time has become a thing of the past.

I realized I haven't been praying like I should. At night, I rush, rush, rush so I can get some sleep. And my morning prayers have become non existent. This morning I vowed to say my prayer and see what happens. Already I have been happier. My day has ran much smoother, I'm not worried about all the little details I have to get done today.

I am thankful that Heavenly father hears our prayers. I don't know how I could handle this life without knowing that he does hear me. That he wants to bless me. That he truly does love me.

Bedtime stories...

Yes, I am that mother who has 5 year old that can read straight from the scriptures on her own....um, just kidding. We are lucky if we get all the letters down in the alphabet. Nevertheless, when I went in to check on Grace as I was getting ready for bed, this is what I found. Whether she knows what it says or not, my heart was touched that she chose to check out what the scripture hype is all about.

I love you Grace.

Football...

My Connor has always wanted to play sports. Unfortunately he has parents who aren't big sport fanatics. However, he finally really begged me to do Football and I caved. I am so glad I did too. The team he is on is so organized. The coaches are excellent with discipline. The team spirit is what impressed us the most.

For a little guy that hasn't ever played football he is doing an amazing job. He has to tackle boys twice his size. He's our little scrapper, so bring it on.

Go number 18!!!!!

Nice boots...

Nothing like watching Tom and Jerry in style...

Witchy fingers...

Isn't it true that we take our memories from childhood and try somehow to re create them and have our own children experience them? Chris used to take these very flowers as a child and call them "witch fingers." Scarlett got a kick out of this and kept coming up to me pointing at me with her long creepy fingers trying to be a scary witch. Only problem is... to me she is just adorable.
